Ultrasonic assembly is the method of choice for many applications in the automotive, appliance, medical, textile, packaging, toy and electronics markets, among others. The basic advantages of ultrasonic assembly – fast, strong, clean and reliable welds – are common to all markets.

The process involves vibrating frequencies of tens of KHz of the components side by side, while firmly being pressed towards each other at the same time. Usually vibration direction is perpendicular to the surfaces that come together, although there are moves parallel to these surfaces or the welding may be based precisely on this last movement.

The advantages of this process are efficiency (heat is localized only in the welding zone) and flexibility, since welding can be at a certain distance from the machine tool.
